Frequently Asked Questions
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR STAY AT OUR SURF CAMP IN MOROCCO
IS THERE A SPECIAL DAY FOR ARRIVALS AND LEAVES?
No there isn’t. If you booked a package (Surf Coaching, Surf Guiding or Surf&Yoga), you can come any day you like. We’re fully flexible. We will arrange a taxi lift which will take you from the Airport to the surf camp, and the same when you’re leaving. In case you’re coming just for a couple of days, we can still arrange a taxi to pick you up at the airport at extra cost.
WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
Beach towel, pen (for arrival/departure form at passport control), swimsuit, sunscreen (we recommend 30+, better is 50 for surfing), sunglasses, flip flops, beach bag, plastic bag (for transport of your wet wetsuit), something warm to wear at night or after surf in the beach (especially in wintertime).
WHERE IS PRO SURF MOROCCO?
Pro Surf Morocco is based in the north of Agadir in the towns of Aourir and Tamraght. We are 15km from the city of Agadir, and it’s a 45 min drive from Agadir Al Massira international airport. Agadir Airport is a short flight (2-4 hours) from most European cities.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
Morocco is served by direct flights from major European and UK airports. Flight time to Agadir is between 2-4 hours.
From Agadir airport, it’s a 45 min drive to the north. There are taxis at the Airport for 300 dirhams to Aourir, but you can also arrange a pick-up from us for the same price.
There is also the possibility to take the bus from the airport, but it’s complicated, especially with baggage.
Transfers from Marrakech can be arranged as well and take 4-5 hours. Please contact us if you would like us to arrange a transfer. We recommend you to take the bus to go from Marrakech to Agadir. There are Supratours or CTM buses between Marrakech and Agadir for almost every 2 hours. The ticket for one-way with the bus will cost you approx. 100 dirham. Find information about bus connections here:http://www.oncf.ma | http://www.ctm.ma
DO I NEED A VISA? DO I NEED A VISA?
EU, US, Australian and New Zealand passport holders with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date do not require a visa to enter Morocco for tourist purposes. If you hold a passport from outside the EU we strongly recommend that you check with your nearest Moroccan Embassy.
WHAT ABOUT CUSTOMS/PASSPORT CONTROL?
When you enter and leave, you will need to fill out a form with basic information (your name, birth date, occupation and passport details).
Please find your address in Morocco in your Pro Surf Morocco booking confirmation.
WHICH LANGUAGE IS SPOKEN IN MOROCCO?
The official language in Morocco is Arabic, but the majority of Moroccans also speak French. In small villages, the local Berber population speaks Tamazight as well. In tourist areas, the majority of Moroccans speak a good level of English too. Our staff members speak Arabic, English, French, German and Tamazight.
HOW CAN I PAY?

WHAT IS THE CURRENCY? WHERE CAN I GET IT?
The Moroccan currency is the Dirham. Exchange rates are around 11/€.

We do not recommend you bring Traveller’s cheques. They cannot be exchanged at the airport or locally, and there are only a few places in Agadir that will change them (at a disadvantageous exchange rate).

IS THERE INTERNET?
There is free wifi available in the accommodations. There are also cafés and restaurants in the area with free wifi.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT?
In Morocco, you will find over 300 days of sunshine a year. Between the months of November to February, there is a small chance of rain. The winter months are famous of their waves. During this time of the year, you will have the chance to surf some of the best waves in the world. The summer months from April to October are full of sunny days. You can find small to medium waves the best time for beginners to start surfing.
The water temperature in winter is 16-20°C, in summer it is around 20°C maybe a little bit warmer. We recommend you to surf with a 3/2mm full suit in the wintertime and in the summertime it is possible to surf with a shorty. But it is your personal choice and depends on your tolerance. Most of our surf school wetsuits are 3/2 full suits.
DO YOU RENT SURF EQUIPMENT?
We offer lots of great boards for hire (Softboards, Epoxy Boards and Polyester Boards). Please let us know your wishes. We offer also wetsuits for hire.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE THERE LOCALLY?
There are small corner shops selling water, soda, crisps, fruit, vegetables, and other essentials. For cigarettes, you must go to a Tabac. There are pharmacies and surf shops as well. You can buy Moroccan handcrafts locally as well.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE THERE IN AGADIR?
The city of Agadir is a 20-minute drive from Aourir. There you can find everything you would find in any European city. There are banks, ATMs, shops, supermarkets, souks, hammams, car hire services, pharmacies, a hospital, restaurants (Fast Food, Indian, Sushi, Moroccan, etc.), cafés, bars, nightclubs and even a Pub for those who feel to go out for a drink at night and much more!
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
Morocco is a liberal Muslim country, and men and women are welcome to wear shorts and t-shirts. Swimsuits and bikinis are expected on the beach, but nudity is not. Please be respectful to the local people and be discreet when changing. For women, it is advisable when walking around town or the city not to wear anything too revealing. For men, we recommend covering their upper body while walking in the street and driving cars. It can be cold at night, and trousers and jumpers are needed particularly in mid-winter, so we suggest to bring some warm clothes too.
CAN I DRINK THE TAP WATER?
Tap water is fine for washing and brushing teeth, but we do not recommend that you drink large quantities. Bottled mineral water is cheap (5 Dirhams) and available everywhere.

Although Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol by Muslims, and alcohol cannot be sold or served in the towns we operate in, it can be bought in Agadir. Note that stores stop selling alcohol at 8 pm.
WHAT ABOUT THE EVENINGS?
It’s really up to you. You can have dinner at the accommodations and relax or you take mint tea in the village and check out the local scene. It is also easy to go to Agadir for nightlife, with possibilities for dinner, drinks, and dancing.
WHAT VOLTAGE AND PLUGS DO YOU USE?
Morocco is on 220 volts with European two-pin round plugs. Please bring a plug adaptor, if you expect you will need one.
HOW DO I CALL MOROCCO?
The international country code for Morocco is +212.
IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE IN MOROCCO?
If you are renting a car, please ensure you have a valid EU driving license that shows you have been driving for at least one year. The law insists that you always carry your license and car hire documents with you when driving in Morocco. Seat belts must be worn at all times and mobile phone use while driving is a finable offense. Police and gendarmerie checkpoints are common along the routes and you must slow down or even stop and wait for them to wave you through. Watch out for police hiding with speed radar. They will stop you and find you an on-the-spot payment. In Morocco, as in Europe driving is on the right. The main roads in the area are relatively new though they are generally narrower and may sometimes have bumps and potholes, especially after periods of rain.
WHAT ABOUT MEDICAL CARE?
No vaccinations are required for visitors to Morocco and anti-malarial precautions are not necessary.
We have first aid equipment along with staff trained in administering first aid. In case of an emergency, there are hospitals and clinics in Agadir.
Medical charges will apply according to the treatment received so make sure you have travel insurance before you arrive. Pharmacies in Morocco are plentiful and carry pretty much anything you might need, with lots of medications available without a doctor’s prescription.
WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
It is your responsibility to obtain adequate travel insurance before your trip. Everyone booking a holiday with Pro Surf Morocco must have full travel insurance. Pro Surf Morocco accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, damage or injury to persons or property during their stay.

March 31, 2023It’s been 5 months after one of the most memorable trips of our lives.
Above all, we wanna send huge hugs to the best host on the Earth Ibrahim who’s... read more also our first and greatest surf teacher. He became our first surf guid who opened for us the magnificent ocean world. There were 7 of us, young and naive girls from Siberia who had never even had a slight glance at any surfboards before. Apart from training experience, we met the most hospitable family with the “deserving Mishllen stars but haven’t got one yet” cook Karima. The tastiest breakfast and dinner over the coast are definitely served by her
We also joined all the extra activities such as trip to Essouire and sand boarding

Love you all, the stuff of Prosurf Morocco
Miss you very much, Ibrahim
Hope to catch up again

Brahim and... read more his team of beautiful and talented people runs what can only be described as a family experience. I surfed with them for one week, but i feel I know them all my life. Speaking of the people, I have gained a family in them too, even those I only met for a day or two. Brahim and his team draws the best kind of people, all different but with something in common too.

Thank you to Brahim and everyone at ProSurf, I will be back.
With love,

We were in the camp from 24.02.2021 to 03.03.2021.

The only spot we surfed was Banana point, we were provided with the whole equipment, but there were hard conditions (a lot of rocks) for beginners during low tide. The camp was so beautiful and cozy and everybody there was so warm and friendly. We always sat together on this huge dining table like a big family and had such a good time.
What I thought was great too was the big rooftop terrace, perfect for hanging out, relaxing or doing some yoga. You could book a lesson with a yoga teacher either at sunrise or later in the afternoon or just grab a mat yourself and do it on your own.
There were some people who came alone, then there was little groups of friends and also couples – who all hung out together and I feel like it was such a nice athmosphere. My friend and I had a double room so there was also the possibility to have some privacy if desired 🙂
I will definitely go there again as soon as possible!
